Clothing as Test

Just another day about town?
This is Sartorialist's most recent contribution.
How might one go about gendering this combo?
graph per sartorialist
P.S.
The title of this post was supposed to be 'Clothing as Text', however, I'm finding 'Test' quite apropos. Thanks, Mary.

This could be a good example of something non-heteronormative. Actually, non-normative altogether.
Since the majority of people, at least in the West, are not likely to go to their offices dressed in a 'skirt-like' thing - (generally observed in parts of India), I'd say this is the perfect of example of 'decontextualized clothing.' It's in the right context in other places but the West. And that's how I'd 'gender' it.
But he's sure rocking the daylight out of that getup, that's for sure. What's in his messenger bag, a MacPro? :)

and I think I have those flip-flops, so I guess we do shop in similar places. Would Banana Republic mainstream that skirt? Methinks not.... I could take this picture with me and go ask them, though. I'm in the mood for some good ol' eye rolling! :-)

I'm assuming you meant to write 'clothing as text.....'?

i agree with Nicki. It fails on accounts of lack of context.... it's perhaps 'too' cultural but in the wrong culture?
