I Heart Carrie Brownstein

My readers know that there are some blogs out there that I absolutely love. NPR's Carry Brownstein's monitor mix is one of them.
Carrie informs us today that Kanye West has launched his own travel site. Apparently, it's like expedia or some such thing.
Is it too much to ask that performers stick to what they know?
First, we see them on the stage, then they're showing up on iPods styled after them (think of the U2 iPod..., wowsah!), face creams, clothing lines and so forth.
I'm as much a fan of multitasking as the next guy, but I'd like to think I know my limits.
If we're not careful, we won't be jacks of all trades but rather simply jacks.....?
Here's Carrie's punchline, per me.

"If I am choosing between a U2 iPod or a regular one, a White Stripes camera or the non-White Stripes camera, my role as a fan has been commodified as well. Basically, I feel like a tool."
Read it all here.

the rest of us are uber-specialized so why can't they just stick to their art?!
