Gore Vidal Discusses Gender

Gore Vidal points out quickly the way the modern person demarcates sexuality and why it differs from the Romans' view of the body, corporeal acts, and sexual expressions.

A most interesting clip from the Real Time with Bill Maher. I will be looking at a few Gore Vidal essays soon.

'isn't that a banking term? we mustn't let these things creep into the language.'

I laughed so hard. This was last night, right?

His one-liners are the funniest. Real Time was good last night!

My favorite bit was when he cracked a joke about 'cosigners' ... I'd like to read more from him. Bill Maher looked intimidated by Vidal.

My god, he's funny! I need to hear more from him.

Friday's show was good. I wish he had talked longer to Vidal and about more substantial issues.

Maher's double standards ammuse me. His bewildered at making a distinction between homosexual identity and a homosexual act, yet he lives a culture in which that distinction is generally accepted for women.

-Right, he is funny. But most importantly, he has an impressive body of work.
-Brokennarcissist, I agree with your point. I make it a 'point' to watch Real Time consistently and I have also noticed some double standard-mess in his rhetoric. I suppose, first and foremost, Maher is an entertainer. He's a comic after all. I have noticed some measure of sexism in some of his linguistic choices and even some lack of comfort with homosciality. But what I appreciate about him is his apparent desire to, at least, tackle topics that seem to make him uncomfortable.

I meant to write standard-ness, but the 'slip' is making me chuckle as I write this. :)
